The Struggles Central Americans Face

Many families in Central America are in poverty, "Overall, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador are among the poorest nations in Latin America with 30%, 26%, and 17% of their people living on less than $2 a day, according to the World Bank" (Gonzalez-Barrera, Krogstad, & Lopez, 2014). There are many families and kids who are living on the streets or living in boxes and can barely find food. Also violence is another big problem in Central America, “For the entire country Honduras’s murder rate was 90 per 100,000 in 2012, the highest in the world” (Gonzalez-Barrera, Krogstad, & Lopez, 2014). Drugs is a big part of the violence, there are many kids who get involved with drugs because they have nothing else.
